I have been having difficulty removing the locking portion if the fuel tank. Any suggestions? The key wants to come out Leaving the plug still in the tank neck and no ability to put in fuel.

OOops. Not funny. So you turn the key into the supposed unlock position, but when you pull up the key comes out without the cap? If the key has unlocked the mechanism, have you tried with an L-shaped hook? I'm sure you've tried as you're an excellent handyman, but just in case... If the key turns but does not unlock the mechanism… I don't know what you could do

It sure is exasperating needing fuel and struggling to get to it! The funny part about it is that is the nicest looking key out of the three that came with the vehicle. I will play with it just so long and then probably rip it out for another more reliable item. Morgan strikes again!!

Finding the lock a general nuisance I removed mine and placed it in the tools bag, so if I ever decide to leave the car somewhere unintended for awhile I can reinstall.

If you can get the lock out, it looks like the flap itself has a seal, so I assume you can drive the car without it.
When I took delivery of mine the mechanic told me to push down as you turn the key

Any fuel work it’s way up there? It is a pretty tight seal on that plug and it must be for a reason other than rattles, maybe?

No issues at all. I've not seen any indication the M3W has a pressure sensor in the fuel system as most autos have these days that would set a code/light. As regards sealing, any fuel that might slosh up there can quickly drain back via that rather large fill tube, so the seal on the cap itself doesn't have a difficult life. I run a similar Monza type fuel cap on a Lotus Elan which has a much shorter path from fuel tank to filler cap and have never had a whiff of fuel from that, even with a very full tank. The M3W locking cap does provide a safety function in that should the machine ever become inverted, any mechanical pressure on that fill cap will likely allow it to open. So I endeavor to keep the machine on it's wheels, and should the worst happen, trust those minimalist roll bars will protect the fill cap, if not my head.

Yes Steve, keeping the machine right side up is paramount👍 I have had several key capture padlocks for over 30 years sitting out in the seaside elements and they work perfectly and yet Morgan cannot find one that is not problematic, amazing to me. Yet another project to occupy my lockdown time. Thanks for your input.
