I think I may have to correct this statement. I have the C power cord plugged into the Media Mod power slot and all it does is say USB connected and on the front it shows the USB icon. The camera is basically dead while plugged into the C cable.

I'll do more YouTubing tonight to see if that's the way it is or if there's a setting that will allow charging and filming at the same time.

Later dudes and dudettes!

Thank you for posting that. I particularly liked the other vehicles obligingly going backwards at the start.

The program that displays the position on the track is nice, what is it?

With further testing last night, I did find that "IF" you remove the battery from the Hero 8 and have it plugged into a power pack or power source like a lighter plug, it will record off the external power indefinitely until your micro card if full. I've also watched many YouTube videos that say they can leave the battery in the Hero 8 and then also use external power. When I have the Hero 8 powered up with the battery installed and the external power "C" cord hooked up, shows that it's charging. But while it clearly shows the charge indicator, as soon as I press record, the charging indicator drops out and I'm just running on the internal battery. This is contrary to most of the videos that still say that with the battery installed AND in record mode, the external power will charge the battery.

I purchased a 256 gb card for the Hero 8 and have an old Hero 3+ Black that will only read 64 gb cards. I hope to use both in the coming weeks.

If everything goes as planned, I will post some videos of the Black Hills area.

Thanks again for all the direction on setup etc.

Quite a poke for you to get out there Rodger. This will be our fourth trip, 2006, 2008, 2015 and now 2020. This will probably be our last trip to Sturgis, at least for the bike rally.

We bought a very little used Keystone Raptor last August. We used it for the first time about a month ago for two weeks up in MI to see old friends and family. It's a 43' with a 12' garage. It has a half bath off the garage and also washer/dryer hookups in the garage. It has three slides and grosses out at 18k pounds. When we were going to MI with just one Harley, the orange one, I stopped at a truck stop and went through the CAT Scale for a weight reading. I got front axle, drive axle and trail axle weights as well as total truck and trailer weights. With just the one Harley, my total with truck and trailer was 26,240#!!!!! That's a good plenty to be throwing around on the road. Even more of trouble is backing the thing into the campground lots.

I bought one with a 12' garage so I could put in a small 4-wheeler or 3-wheeler at some future time. My truck is a '12 RAM crew cab dually with the Cummins 6.7L diesel I-6. I got 10.2 mpg towing up to MI fully loaded. Sound really low, but for what it's doing, I am NOT complaining.

This was the day I loaded up both Harleys and took the toy hauler out to the storage lot for the winter.

We're taking the orange/black CVO Road Glide to Sturgis and the old '76 Harley Shovelhead will stay home this trip. I will be taking my new to me Honda Helix 250cc motor scooter. I picked it up for a good deal. It's '98 with just 600 miles on the ticker a month ago when I got it home. So new tires, new drive belt, change the fluids and I'm ready to go. The B&W Biker Bar setup I use allows us to load our bikes and then just step off them without any need for tie downs.

Right now I'm getting ready to install new rear shocks for our trip out west on Sunday.

Hopefully the videos will turn out and give some of the across the pond guys something to watch that they've not seen before.

I really do appreciate all the help with my questions, THANKS!

Dan

We went up there in 09, 12, 15 and 18, but always the week after and met up with a group of folks from nakedgoldwings (ngwclub.com). But those times we were coming up from Oklahoma, not the east coast. No way during COVID would I want to be around a crowd.

We're going to keep our distance and wear masks when around people. There's so much SPACE out there that if you want to be lonely, you can be...

Yes, OK is a LOT closer. For us on Sunday we have a 574 mile drive to Sioux Falls SD and then another 6 hour drive on Monday to Hill City. Should be a good trip and lots of great riding!
