John07, yup have seen opto isolation used to protect PLC`s from spikes etc.etc.etc. but more than happy to have left all that behind when I retired and have none of it in my old non digital Morgan...(-:

Jads/John, sorry if I may have mislead you, I am out of date in so much these days, from that which Colin typed it seems colour coded wiring may be like me... a thing of the past..

Glad that you resolved your issue by identifying the relay location. Given the replacement and re-flashing costs (ouch!) I can understand why you want to be sure there is protection built in to the relay, even if there is already protection on the ECU outputs.

Couple of points ref the Omex ECU, diodes etc.

Depending on who built the wiring for the ECU conversion, there might be diodes built into the loom.

When I did my conversion I used a base loom from Omex and they took care of the diodes in the system. My relays from Omex were also Ripca.

Secondly, you really ought to back up the ECU map to your computer. Then, if for whatever reason the ECU does fail, you have a copy ready to upload into the new ECU.

I back up my ECU every time I make an adjustment and it's quite instructive to be able to look at the mapping.

The software is free to download and you should have been given the cables to link up.

BTW, It will only work on Windows, not Mac OS.
