I have used one of these a number of times, and there has been no ill effects to the paint.

Used my shower cap for the first time today in Chamonix. Very easy to deploy & kept the dreadful weather out perfectly.

This cap came with the Mog - I would have to dig around to find it's origin, but it's very good. Hood down in this photo.

However it does microscratch the bonnet where the elastic ties rub slightly - so I've cut two neoprene buffers which hold under the ties.

Here's the John Taylor full monte - hood up

It rained torrentially all night - North Devon, and some wetness did get through onto the hood, but only a tiny amount which wasn't a problem. It's a great cover.

I use the John Taylor version and find it excellent.
Bought last year and not used that often, but when i have its done a great job.

My shower cap in the first picture is St Clare.

Reminds me of a funny story from MGCC Silverstone last year. I was taking the cover from the Mog when an old guy with an immaculate MGA strolled over and said that he had always wanted one of these..........

Obviously I assumed he meant a Morgan.
Thankfully I didn't put my foot in it - before I could respond he went on to say that these storm covers are such a good idea and saves putting the hood & sidescreens up.

My ego slowly deflated........ blush

I bought the 'shower cap' type for my 4/4.

The idea was to avoid using the roof or tonneau and just put the cap on.

Sadly, it pools with water and, as soon as you try to take it off you just have to prevent all the water from pouring into the cockpit, as I found out this morning. Oooops!

It looks very flimsy and as though it'll take off, but it seems okay generally.

Might try the one that covers the bonnet too!
