Thank you, it is what it is and to be honest I am chuffed to bits that I am still in a Morgan and enjoying every second. This car is a special one in many ways, ex Williams demonstrator so loaded with their goodies plus well looked after by previous owner. I have only done about 500 miles or so in it since buying last October because of lockdown but it is superb. Remapped, AR manifold and exhaust, cool air induction kit so goes like stink with a glorious sound, much better than my Duratecs and they were not bad. Done some work on it, Rogers rear suspension spring assisters, DW rear brake light, plus a dozen or so minor accessories. I have seen a nice car with the factory easy up hood but the thought big selling the Sport and the agro puts me off. Of course the dealers want to make money on both cars so even after spending a grand at least on it the ‘offer’ to part exchange is not at all attractive. Of course I could just buy a motorbike wet suit again ;-).

Having owned a number of 4/4s over the years - see below, the 1600cc Sigma with the excellent Mazda box is the best of the lot.

My 4/4 Sport (sigma with mazda box) is perfect for me, I've never driven any of the 6 or 8 cylinder Morgan's. But I have driven SFG's 4/4 with the ford box which was a rather sloppy, but ok.

I think a Roadster or a Plus 8 would scare that shite out of me

In addition to Andy G's excellently described listing of the various series of the roadster, I would like to add just one detail. With the introduction of the Roadster Sport in 2010 and afterwards the bespoke models as well the performance of the 3.0 Series 2 engine increased from about 206? PS to ca. 230 PS. This was clearly noticeable, I had both models. But the Series 1 Roadster I also had was a much more sporty machine and the transmission was better graded and felt better.

Thanks for all the input - please could someone let me know the MK1 Roadster production dates as it seems the Mk2 version is to be avoided?

From 2013 the engine was 3.7l

I assume you have a plus 4 GDI?

No it’s a 2012 4/4 Sport with the 1.6 Sigma engine and Mazda gearbox

Well, luckily I have an HGV class 1 licence so it doesn’t feel sloppy to me, just a bit more manly ⚙️

It was the duratec which confused me I thought it referred to a P4. I live and learn
