Yesterday evening my 4/4 refused to start.
After I inserted the key the standard procedure of speedometer needle jump worked, klicking of engine valve preset was there but no reaction from the starter when I turned the key in starting position. Key out, re-inserting, same problem.
After knocking hard at the steering column starting was ok.

This morning: no starting at all. Both Starter keys were tested with the same result. On purpose I did no knocking the steering column trick.

I had a similar problem last season, brought the car to my Morgan dealer and the transponder ring got re-located (at least I think they did that for solving the problem)

The car is safe in the garage.
Any advise from the professionals if I could do the fixing of transponder ring myself?
Is there a risk to damage something? Spare part supply from MMC seems to be slow at the moment.

I've not had this myself Hannes but others have, I know DaveW has a thread on here somewhere as his car suffered from it and the ring needing moving a little I seem to recall.

My 2006 car was a bit of a mess, whole cowl fitting and transponder ring fitted by a butcher.

A thick cable tie had been fitted to stop the ring sliding down but nothing to stop it rotating and moving, absolutely awful.

Solution for me was double sided tape. Easy job, just ensure you place the ring so that the cowl refits properly.

I'll try the 20 seconds game!

I assume the immobilizer is an integral part of the Morgan electric setup.
Otherwise I would prefer to remove it and have no immobilizer.

Murphy's law applies to Morgan cars as far as I have experienced.
What is not there can't make problems so no immobilizer would be OK.
(I think Murphy's car was a M3W)

I'd definitely be exploring a workaround it can't be too difficult.

Interesting that his car had neoprene to stop the ring falling inwards.
My car only had a cable tie, with the side of the cowl to keep in place.....the poverty solution.

The 20 seconds key contact does not work on my car, even with removed cover.

I will call my Mog-dealer tomorrow. Hopefully no need to transport the car to his garage.

My key transponder system does look different than the one in DaveW's thread. It is a Ford origin spare part
