Took 4/4 up to Mark Middleton. Still on the "refreshment".
Much cooler (relatively) outside, but can't get that cooler air into the house...

I went to buy my usual dressed carb & prawns today. I took the Polo for a run & luxuriated in the aircon.
Have just washed the Mog & the sweat is rolling off me. Off now to drive the car to dry it off.

Exactly Bud, me too. I also plan a seafood salad for Thursday . Tonight is the local pub to help the economy, Wed is the regular outing with the lads in the Mog, hence Thursday.

Think of Escape from Colditz and The Great Escape and you've got the picture of this trip. Four Mogs, actually 3.75 mogs because of the 3 wheeler, took off from Vienna to drive over the Großglockner. Our plans to drive to the Le Mans Classic race meeting in France this summer had been stymied by Covid restrictions. To drive the route of the historic Hochalpenstrasse would help salvage our summer. Maps were consulted, cars were serviced and partners pacified. Weather determined the date; no point viewing dramatic Alpine scenery from the inside of a cloud. We covered 1,000 km over 3 days and a great time was had by all. The M3W pilot managed to throw his suitcase off during hard cornering in the wet, the Green 4/4 developed serious scuttle shake and a mysterious ringing noise which was traced to a cow bell hanging from the chassis and the white 4/4 had dynamo problems as usual. The oldest, the 56 Plus 4 refused to break down but did enjoy leaving a nice trail of 20/50 for anyone following too closely. And an enthusiastic German in a Porsche tried to take on the M3W going up the really windy bits. I'm pleased to report that Malvern defeated Stuttgart by a large margin.

The aerial shot of the road was taken on a reconnaissance flight in the Kitfox 10 days earlier. We were at about 10,000 ft.
