In my experience, it is not easy to improve grunt at the bottom end. If you look at dyno charts after remapping etc, improvements only appear to be significant above 3000 revs or so. If you want a Ford engine to really get up and go, with or without remap, throttle bodies & exhaust systems, you gotta rev its nuts off!

The remap was the best bang per buck for me and it did improve the driveability on both cars. I purchased the 1.8 and 2.0l performace tune files direct from the tuner and reflashed my own ecu's. Much cheaper than the dealer installing it and its not difficult.

Having the 1.8 Duratec I became more and more curious after reading all of the above. After about 45 minutes of fiddling under the bonnet and a 5 minute spell with the angle grinder in the garage, I am delighted to report a noticeable improvement to the throttle responce at the upper end. More bang for zero bucks.
