Indeed, it even has a 1.2 flat four with 25 hp at the back. It is only a prototype but no Volkswagen.

I noticed this type Mercedes in the former Schlumpf collection in Moulhouse in France. Now the collection is called Cite' de l'Automobile.
Not sure if it had a ducktale but was very similar to an early Volkswagen Beetle.

According to "Vroom.be" all prototypes were destroyed.
Only one engine survived and is in the Mercedes museum in Stuttgart.
The design was by Hans Nibel.
