I looked in the parts book and could not find that “O” ring seal and it is not in the Alternate Parts List either.

Has anyone had to replace that large “O” ring gasket?

Really? Now it is a rubber "O" ring , maybe 8" in diameter. I never measured it when I had it out and cleaned it., but I should have. In some circles it would be referred to as the banjo housing gasket, that fits into a recess in the BB case.

Mine fell apart (I assume you’re talking about the drain plug gasket?), changed it to the copper one: no problem.w

No, the gasket that goes between the pinion housing and the ring gear case housing. the one that when you split the case open is sitting in a machined in recess in the case.

Sorry, have no idea about that one. Why did you have to open it? I would assume they used some RTV, as they did for the seal carrier.

If you find the part number for the Bevel Box housing large O-ring let me know and I will add it to the list. Not many part numbers have been found for the BB. Other than replacement of leaking input shaft seals, only a few have felt the need to go into it and Quaife are not very helpful.

Planenut, I will do that if I need to split that case again. I feel very foolish to not have looked for a seal in the Alt.Parts List first so I would have known the part was unknown. I literally let the opportunity slip through my fingers when I was cleaning that “O” ring and thought to myself , should I measure it? I assumed, bad thing to do, that someone had done so. I had the calipers on the bench and had that part laid out and just didn’t do it. Damn!

Kankel, I split the case to drill and tap the top of the case for a remote fill and the return line from the oil cooler.

BTW, No RTV is used in that joint, just the rubber "O" ring.
