It's a brilliant site - however, it has a purpose beyond fun. I suspect that is main purpose is to:
1) Generate advertising revenue - it is click bait
2) Support SEO work for paying clients - site is owned by an agency
I have seen similar before but never this good - one dodgy client (sacked by us) had 10 such sites to boost SEO work. All very dry and full of geographically relevant "stuff"
