Hello.

In the '90s I worked on the prototype tub for what became the Elise. I vowed to buy one, someday. It took almost a quarter of a century, but here it is;

[Linked Image]

It's an S2 Sport 135, 18k on the clock, previously owned by a retired RAF wing commander (!) As you'd expect, it's just about perfect. It drives totally different to any Morgan I've ever had - very light, changes direction instantly, you feel like you're sitting in the middle of all the action, it's noisy, really noisy, and screams it's K series off on the Motorway. Brakes are incredible, steering is so good I am sure you can read things painted on the road (but choose to ignore things that say SLOW). I would say an Elise makes a great stablemate to a Morgan, they're both brilliant at what they do, and have flaws that you love because the rest of it is so wonderful.

I'll post up more if anyone is interested?

Been there, done it, got the T shirt! Elise was fabulous but, while gravity would help me get in, getting out was a whole new problem! (especially with the hardtop in place)

Congratulations Rich!

Yes, bmgermany, the Elise is a beautiful modern car. But fortunately it is still one where you should be able to drive yourself and enjoying the corresponding fun.

Nice matching plates, Max5.
BTW my Elise gets a new ECU next week because it has to be fine tuned with the newer sports manifold, which is not longer possible to achieve with the Toyota ECU, the garage says.

Thank you, chaps!

Graham - yes, nice to see you at MMC, I was with my Dad as I recall. Returning (or collecting, I forget) the Plus Four I took up to Scotland.

I am also writing for Absolute Lotus magazine about this car, and there's a film in the edit at Carfection.

I'll wrangle some more words together when I get a tick, then.

Thanks again for the kind words smile
