Thanks, and yes funny how so many comment on red looking cool again now. Resale Red in the 70/80’s fell out of fashion in favour of the metallics but I think it’s come back around.

Nothing - nothing compares to the E-type. Period. For looks, the coupe. Nice with the possibility for open air driving, but still I would have chosen the coupe for the aestethics. Congratulations, enjoy.

FHC gives the definitive E type silhouette. It’s my favourite

I restored a 4.2 FHC to pin point perfection and fitted modern upgrades inc jenvey ITB’s, 5sp etc

Sold it and dragged a local car out of a barn where it had sat for 20 yrs. got it running and replaced/restored everything do do with drivetrain and electrics. Body was a shambles but drive spot on and attracted so much posits attention because it wasn’t the normal polished piece of art.

Absolutely Robbie , I am probably going to annoy a lot of Jaguar E lovers, but the dynamics are rather different.

That body that looks so good does generates lift at speed and many were crashed in the day by drivers trying to max out to the legendary 150 mph , and failing to get there .

The ride is superb certainly, the cockpit is a nice place to be, the straight six twin cam engine is both lovely to look at and to appreciate aurally, but unless heavily modified they are not an involving sports car in the away a Morgan is.

Must agree with that Andy. My brother had a early e-type back in the day (actually belonged to Jackie Stewart before he got it!) and I used to get half a crown for cleaning the wire wheels as a young lad. Consequently always wanted one and a few years back decided to fulfill the dream. What a disappointment. I think you would have more fun driving a reliant van, afraid it didnt do a thing for me. Still think it is one of the best looking cars ever built though.

A lot depends on how well the car is set up and it’s general condition.

Obviously these cars are old, I’ve driven some absolute rotters and they drive NOTHING like a tip top on the button Etype

I’m sorry but an early Etype is an absolute dream to drive. I rag about in mine regularly and drive it hard. It’ll drive faster though our lumpy bumpy uk lanes than any plus 8 I’ve driven.

Put it this way, my woman easily and happily drives the E but not interested in the Morgan.

60 years ago they must have felt like they were from another world.

I still think the FHC are the best shape, and the colour is superb thumbs

Now lets not get into an argument... The V12 E I had for a week was not the best performing sports car I have driven, but certainly one of the best looking, and it was only 5 years old at the time, so no old dog. The V12 gave off a low thrum, and for one used to four cylinders it sounded super smooth which was a lot different to the fours on Webers I was more used to, though the window frames rattled a bit when pressing on which I thought kinda spoiled the illusion of a luxury sports car at the time. By comparison a Morgan seems like a vintage sports car might do, whereas the E Type now might be determined as more of a Classic sports car..?

I remember knocking back an E that someone wanted me to take in exchange for my old Land Rover Safari which was built out of the remnants of three... I said to him do you think I`m Daft.... Amazing how our evaluation of much can alter in the passage of time... DUH..!

The V12 cane about because of the US market. The V12 was silky smooth with amazing torque (which my dad used to demonstrate frequently). Bigger cabin and a much better tourer. It had many merits but lost its sportiness

That's because red cars are faster.
