Thanks. I found several vehicles, but not the Morgan  It's following the camera car rather than being ahead of it. so you need to look backwards.

I found that it appeared to catch up with and follow the camera car on Pennine Way, and it stayed behind the camera car as the road becomes Brunt Acres. After a while it disappears. I can't see the same image as that first screen grab of a junction though. Lovely countryside of course.

I've met the Google camera on the road a couple of times, once locally and once in Europe. Car doesn't appear on street view though.
I'm told the view is only updated if there is a substantial change since the previous images, ie a new junction, sign or building. Therefore one image could be taken heading in one direction and a more recent image from the opposite direction. The two are then merged to make a 360°
This would explain why cars seem to appear and disappear.

Yes, not just cars. Until recently you could drop the little Street View man on one side of Northam Bridge in Southampton and see the old Southern Television studios. Take one step forward and it turned into a pile of rubble. If you go up the old A3 north of Petersfield you pass a Vauxhall dealer and Murco service station, but click in the right place and it briefly turns into Medcalf's Vintage Bentley garage https://goo.gl/maps/4QBrNWpZp1XLWydX7Last Saturday I took my son to Portsmouth to look at a car he was thinking of buying. Last Saturday I took my son to Portsmouth to look at a car he was thinking of buying. Before we left we looked up the address on Google and in street view we found the house with the very car parked outside.The seller had only owned it since September.
That's still plenty of time for it to get nicked in Pompey.

Some stretches of road have a history of images, if you see a clock next to "Street View" in the grey box top left, you can click it and see previous images on a timeline. the Link Ian provided has one when the Bentley garage appears.
