Do the batteries heat up as they are being charged?
If so a new feature of battery driven cars could be a pasty warming compartment.
I'll apply for the patent on that one!!

Yes 5 minutes on a cooling Plus 8 exhaust manifold has worked for me  not that it's ever likely to visit an electric establishment

I'll apply for the patent on that one!! Yes they do, but as most EV’s have active battery management apart from the Nissan Leaf, and they’re sealed in a container unde the car fraid you’re pasty wouldn’t get very hot.

How long before they realise EV pollute more over their lifetime than ICEs. Will this be like diesels? 🤦♂️ They don't, John. Even in the worst case scenario, an electric car with a battery produced in China and driven in Poland still emits 22% less CO2 than diesel and 28% less than petrol, the tool shows. In the best case scenario, an electric car with a battery produced in Sweden and driven in Sweden can emit 80% less CO2 than diesel and 81% less than petrol.
The one area where EVs score less well than traditional cars is in the production process, where emissions are currently around 30% higher for EVs than for petrol cars (at the average global electricity mix). The authors therefore warn about a possible short-term increase in emissions during the time-lag between producing EVs and reaping the overall benefits of them emitting fewer gases over their lifetime - that's where the 25k mile figure comes from as calculated by Auke Hoekstra of TU Eindhoven. 👍👍

Do they add in the slave labour in Africa for the rare earths or cleaning up the pollution of the mining and spare batteries?

No, but then they didn't include the devastation caused by the exploration, prospecting, drilling, extraction, transport, refining, and distribution of petroleum products either. They do. They also include the impact of the battery production. Edit: If I have been interpreting the report correctly it also means that EVs are neither cost-effective or reduce CO2 emissions for someone like me with extremely low annual mileage and who keep their cars for a long time. Which I suspect I knew, but is non-the-less a bit disappointing.
