Mine was a Ford Consul Mk 1 at age 13 for driving around a field of a friend to teach myself to drive, first sports car MGB

VW beetle - thats awesome! before i decided to get a morgan for my first car i'd always wanted a beetle!

and as for driving around a field - my mate's got a peugeot 205 and we took one of our friends out in it in a field to teach her to drive - that was a hell of alot of fun!

My first car - Vauxhall Astra 1.2 MErit 2 door 4 speed

IT was a dog - but I learned a lot in that crapbucket. Particularly things like drifting (driving on snow!) and how to get 12 students in a hatchback.

My first car was a MGA coupe (fixed head). It was dreadful. It should have had two 6 volt batteries under the floor behind the seats. The trouble is that 6V batteries are not common and cost more than a (bigger in size) 12 volt. So the prevous owner had renoved the floor behind the seats and wedged in a 12 volt battery - trouble was the floor could not be refitted. At 50 mph the whole car shook so the instruments were impossible to read . I paid £100 for the car when I was 18, and under instructions from my parests sold it for £80, but the number plate for £40 (50 CRM) this was in 1978.

Absolutely - he will be an usher at my wedding in a few weeks. You ddon't throw away a good friendship over a car. You give your mate a kick up the arse for provoking oversteer on a roundabout in feburary at 5.30 am taking your car home from the airport though. Especially when he phones you in the check in queue to tell you your car is wrecked! Main thing was he got out ok. I could buy a new car (eventually!).....
