I'm in & the 'prang' likelihood is much greater on the public roads. You're doing well to get to 10mph on the skidpan: it's surrounded by grippy tarmac, so you're not going to hit anything. The only risk I could see was in leaving the pan sideways, power on, and putting sudden load through the drivetrain... which is solved by lifting off the loud pedal :-) On my Mission Motorsport day they were putting cars through in groups of 6-8, with each session lasting 45 minutes. I took two sessions, with 45 minutes between. Tuition would be interesting - https://thruxtonracing.co.uk/experiences/skin-pan-weekday-experience#tab-experience this gives time in a Mini, Toyota, tutored & untutored. I wonder if they'd let us add a run in our own cars? Will

Thruxton is ready and waiting to take your money ? https://thruxtonracing.co.uk/skidpanMaybe a good outing for next year for a group. No matter what happens (with the exception of a total prang god forbid) you can stay well distanced? The waiting to take your money bit made me chuckle! Good idea for when things improve.

Don't forget, on a skidpan in a manual, to cancel out the spinning just stick your foot down on the clutch!

... & thinking of things returning to normal, maybe using our own cars solo, rather than using Thruxton's cars with instruction, would reduce the risk of cancellation :-)

Took the Aero out yesterday, when I say took it out I moved her out of the garage so my son could do some woodwork to the interior of his campervan. I nearly took it for a quick blast even though for the first time ever she is sorned. It took an age to get to working temp on idle but then I had to give her another quick polish, now under wraps till we get a Jab at least...... Em

Christmas afternoon... Glorious weather, brilliant blue sky, a bit nippy..... The kitchen team were busy preparing an early. supper.... So I escaped to take Tarka out for a drive...hood up though... ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2020/12/25/Tarka-does-Porton-Down.jpg) Taken the MOD road past Porton Down. The MODPLOD discourage people stopping, but on Christmas Day I thought I'd get away with it. The lighting from the low angle sun really brought out the best in Tarka's paint: I'm really pleased with that shot. If you zoom in on the background at the front of the car you can see all the bunkers built a few years ago to hold 100 years of chemical weapons for disposal: slow, dangerous work as many have to be first identified as all the markings have been lost over time and poor storage at other sites. The work is expected to take many years.

And to think I used to go running on that road in my yoof when training for a marathon (late and much missed grandparents lived in the village just down the road from the MOD entrance).... It’s explains the natural glow I have which thought was down to Ready Brek.... HB

The road was comprehensively re-engineered a few years ago, it has been a real crumbling mess. Amusingly, most sat navs don't show it connected to Porton village!
