Hey there,
I am thinking about sending my ecu to the factory to get the clubsport ecu update.
Could anybody explain to me in detail how to remove the ecu from and put it back to the car? I think, that is something, I could do myself. And is there something, I have to look for or I could do wrong? Would be great, if you could help me because now I still have quite some time until the Mog season starts again. 😎
Thank you very much and I will keep you informed!

With the 4/4 it is like this. The ECU is in the fuse box in the direction of travel on the right in the engine compartment directly behind the windshield. This fuse box is made of aluminum sheets and the cover is attached with three thumbscrews that you unscrew first. On top of the ECU is a smaller box that contains the immobilizer. Do not confuse! The ECU is the larger box that lies at the bottom.
On the 4/4, there is a large plug connected to the ECU, the size of half a cell phone. You can't just pull this plug off. It is firmly locked with an Allen screw. I don't remember if there is a plastic cover over the allen screw that you have to pull off first.
Before you do anything, the battery must be disconnected.

I don't know how much the whole procedure differs on the Plus 4 compared to the 4/4.

Hi Tommog,

I removed and refitted mine for a reflash.
Firstly disconnect the battery.
The ECU is the lower unit in the aluminium box in the RHS of the engine bay. Disconnect the top unit and remove it, it is Velcroed on top of the lower one.
The ECU is fitted in very closely and you will need to move the loom aroud to access the 4 bolts which secure it.
Once the bolts have been removed you move the ECU around enough so that you can release the levers which retain the two plugs.
It should then wiggle out by moving the loom around. I think I also had to lift the fuse units off their retainers to provide enough movement.

Fitting is the reverse but be very careful not to bend the pins.

Hello ref the clubsport remap I was at the factory the other day and asked about the club sport map,it seems that you can only have it done if you have the aero manifold and exhaust. If not ie the liberands manifold you have to have the enhanced remap. What the difference is i dont know ,I was told that it was the same as the club sport, but it must differ in some way ,as why do 2 remaps,I would like to know what the difference is, Duncan

Thank you very much! Seems like a job even I could handle in this winter break. 😎
I will send a mail to the factory to learn how the transaction could be managed and what the costs are.

You could spear to Cain at wolf performance. The remap was around £300. I bought the remap plus the Morgan sports exhaust an from memory it was aroud £1800 plus vat. A lot of money but it sounds fantastic, lots more pops and bangs, and feels so much sportier.

You know you deserve it!

I can confirm it sounds epic & sans swmbo it allows Hawki to drive in a spirited fashion, so much so I cut 2 mpg off the Roadster chasing him.
But with swmbo it seems slower so there maybe a special "boss detector" in built.

Hi Hawki,

I think your are right! After 2020 I deserve it! ;-)

Is there a difference between the wolf performance update and the factory one? I allready have a sports exhaust on the car, but I do not want to build in the manifold.
