On my 1981 +8 i am doing a full restoration, but when fitting the brake calipers, the flexible brake pipe has a small straight which with the angle it comes out of the caliper means the pipe loops into the bottom of the front spring. Should the pipe have an angle fitting? Unfortantly, the old pipes were binned nearly two years ago when the car was striped and even though i took hundreds of pictures for reference, I seem to have missed this!

Gary
You can sometimes get the flexible hose to bend in a helpful direction by loosening the nut and rotating the fitting a small amount at the non-calliper end (where it goes through the frame front/valence), you do need to be careful as you don't want to kink it, this may be enough to allow some clearance.
The other method is to use a hose with wire loops as a protective boundary.
Lastly you can try using a cable tie (or similar) to clip and route the hose to ensure that it does not touch the main spring, but this is really only a last resort as it does not look good and might get comments from an MoT tester.
I have never seen an angled fitting on a +8 (but that is not to say that MMC never fitted them!)
