Finished. Video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_7VTH2SXL8Once built the kit fully functions as shown in video Tips. All assembled with mortice, tenons and dowels No glue Parts all numbered whilst in parts sheets. Meticulous adherence to instruction, very careful selection of right part. Lots of parts very similar in look but slight nuances make a BIG difference. Select wrong part of fit wrongly (Murphys Law) and a few stages later on it will bite you! Resulting have to disassemble and rebuild with the parts which are now no longer numbered! If when fitting you feel the need to force it you will probably have the wrong part and as they are fragile they will fracture. Recommend you spend no more than an hour at a time as the slightest loss of concentration on fairly detailed parts will result in errors that will bite you. Other than that great fun to build and a quality kit. About 12 man hours. Enjoy Ian

Excellent Ian, those seats are very realistic as they look as comfy as a full size CX Mog

I’m halfway through the same build, all the gears run very well so far but tend to stiffen up as the gear train gets longer.

I’m halfway through the same build, all the gears run very well so far but tend to stiffen up as the gear train gets longer. Hi Bervie1 When I built the express train I had the same issue of more cogs the stiffer it got. Trouble was I didn't really test it until I have finished so I had total drive train to try and work out the friction points. I had used "hot wax" to smear mating/bearing surfaces and it had quite a bit of minute hard wax lumps to get rid of. On the Roadster I did three things based on learning from first kit. 1. Make sure there are no burrs on the cogs/rollers or bearing from where the it has been released from parts sheet. This is a classic example of where meticulous attention to detail is needed. 2. I used Vaseline lightly smeared on the bearings/cogs and on any cog faces that are "against" another surface. However I made a mistake on the engine bores using Vaseline because the piston down stroke was "gravity" driven and because the pistons and con rods are so light, the Vaseline was too sticky so "gravity" was insufficient to get them to drop. Had to take the engine to bits clean off Vaseline from pistons and bores and rebuild. 3. Also, like you, I made sure I had free movement at each stage of sub assembly and when uniting sub assemblies together then I exercised the new complete higher assembly so you can identify friction points as they occur. Its a great model.

I built the same kit back in October. Ran ok when I tried it. Now sits in the dining room on display.
Might try one of the other kits now...
2012 Plus 4 in Sport Green. Much comfier than the Plus 8!

Might try one of the other kits now... I can recommend the Express Train https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xb-6DomtlPMTook longer than the Roadster.

Thanks for that I’ll try a bit more wax, I did break one of the drive shafts and had to revert to superglue to repair it and although it looks pretty straight I suspect slight misalignment, so far they all turn but there are sticky bits. I think it’ll be used more as a display model rather than “playing with” so it should be fine.

Again, makes a nice display model
