A very timely tread. It was a few weeks ago that on JohnV6 recommendation I tried to purchase LED bulbs from Duncan @ www.classiccarleds.co.uk. There were none in stock and Duncan replied to say that they would be in at the begining of February.

So it would seem that I may have saved myself a few £s by not being able to purchase them.

I like JohnV6 I have had 1/2 moon LEDs as side lights and nightbreaker H4s on my headlights on my 4/4 with no issue. I also have a pair of CIBIE spot that come on as main beam, fitted with nightbreakers. I was considering changing these to LEDs.

Oh well.

We need somebody to commission some 7"bowls designed for LED bulbs.

But you have to ask why didn't someone do that already?

Perhaps because there was no need, I've run LED's in OE bowls for around 3yrs without any issues, but now with this latest MOT revision we're a bit stuffed

I've spotted several Mogs fitted with angel eyes & other alternative bling headlamps that aren't CE marked that don't seem to get rejected at MOT time

Is this one (from the other thread) legal today in your country?

I think those may be sealed beam Heinz, so not a solution for those of us sitting on LED bulbs and needing just the bowls. Although they may be bowls plus bulbs, the cost is eyewatering for such low use.

On second reading it does say "his bulbs" so maybe the bowls are available without bulbs........

These also seem to be current MOT compliant headlights

I can see the enthusiasm for a traditional looking headlamp bowl Dave, but it seems unlikely any manufacturer would entertain such given most sealed LED headlamp units are designed, tested and approved/E marked as an integrated unit, more often than not with accurate projector optics for the dipped beam aspect.

Furthermore there seem to be an increasing range of compliant sealed units, some of which MMC use themselves on the CX range, and prices are reducing. Land Rover units plus the ones that Wolf and KH are now offering come to mind.
