John, is that the same spec (305) that Russell currently has in stock, if so it may suit Andy.

No ULEZ of LEZ charge for the vehicle. It was the same about a year ago when I went to London. No chang3 showing.
Have you checked your Plus8?
Simply put in the reg number, select UK registered and see the result.
I am guessing that the TFL database might not have Morgans included in the section for charges to be applied. Being a low volume car perhaps they have not put it in yet or haven’t realised they should!
An example of a less than thorough public sector management?

Take care with this site. Its possible to check with ULEZ and it also then tells you about charges elsewhere under LEZ. Then on another page you can check LEZ alone. On the first one it said that the fezza didnt have a charge under either but on the second it contradicted itself, The car is 2004 and somewhere around 350 mg or whatever mso its definitely not LE

The car you linked to Richard has the factory developed ECU upgrade to cure the rev hang and give power increase as with John's Brooklands. It also has the AR rear exit sports exhaust option although not sure what further power increase if any, that would give. I can only tell you the AR side exit sports exhausts mine has doesn't diminish it wink

Sounds like an excellent opportunity to join John's Brooklands register for the lucky new owner and at a fair price.

Thanks Richard, I thought they sounded to have been subjected to the same modification but I know nothing about Roadsters other than a test drive many years ago at Mike Duncan's.
I don't think Andy would be disapointed with the level of power smile

I agree. Let's hope we've collectively sold it to him wink

p.s. the 5 x alloys it comes with add an extra level of individuality.

They’re never 305bhp even with the remap...
To the best of my knowledge the remap is the same as used in the ARV6’s

Andrew Thompson’s ARV6 that I look after has the least power of the ARV6’s in Morgan Challenge at 269 Bhp, the most powerful is about 293....

Tuner-friendly dyno perhaps 🙂

Rare to find two the same .... for my racer I use the same one every time .... all I need to know is whether my latest power-boosting wheeze has gained me or lost me horses !

All the cars in the Morgan Challenge are rolling road tested at Northampton Motorsport
We run a power to weight class structure, so this lets us classify the cars correctly

Thanks but I have checked , I think the difference between your car and mine is the engine management. Your 2002 will have the GEMS fully moaned ignition and fuelling, mine will has the 14CUX Hotwire fuelling only, so mine is definitely not compliant.

If so how about considering going the other way and getting a pre-81 +8? That way all your expertise - and possibly existing bits and bobs will be transferable.

Brian, Yes historic are exempt but they have to be 40 years old and mine is a mere youngster at 22. A pre-81 car does have attractions in that respect BUT there are not too many good ones around. I would also need to bring them up to an acceptable level of performance and handling, which wouldn't be cheap.
Perhaps an easier way to retain a +8 would be to go the other way and look for a good GEMS car (2001 to 2003?) Again a certain amount work would be needed but perhaps a better investment case?

Thank you also Richard , John and Dave , this is exactly what I was looking for about Roadsters. I focused on the 3.7 car as it would appear to offer the closest performance to my +8. I would certainly miss that wave of V8 torque ( I rarely need to exceed 3000rpm and the torque comes in at about 1500rpm, above 3500 mine starts to fly very quickly indeed BUT I have to accept that the fuel consumption drops like a stone. I do accept that the over V8 is now well outdated and not very efficient compared to the Ford based V6 cars.
