Andy to drag it back on course a bit, I feel your pain over this one having discovered myself last week just how much these Plus 8’s get into your blood when it got to decision time on the Plus Four I just wasn’t ready. A little bit left field, would it be possible to convert her to propane to overcome this issue, I have no knowledge of this other than it was Bill’s way round the emissions in the States.

Andy G, another point on the emissions malarkey if you do any touring in France you need the Crit'Air sticker for an increasing number of areas, does your +8 have a euro 3, 4 or 5 on it's V5
My 3.7 was given a purple one, (whatever that signifies) but on the spot fines can be issued & the Gendarmes love an English cash cow, if you don't have one

I know just how you feel Rich, the +8 is addictive in terms of power , torque, handling (after a few mods) and exhaust note, and I will anguish forever about the decision. The propane conversion is a non-starter I am afraid, the system is based on the homologation of the car , not its actual emissions. According to the test results I have from emissions at MoT time , my +8 actually meets Euro 4 (albeit only just) , but the car is not homologated to that standard, so it becomes automatically liable for the ULEZ charge. I did try to follow up with a guy in Stratford (E London) who was modifying motorbikes to comply with the bike regs for ULEZ on NOx emissions by re-tuning them , and after spending much money , he could submit a new emissions certificate to a particular number plate via the TfL computerised system. He said it had been so much hassle that he would not even contemplate doing it for cars, but was prepared to advise anyone who would . So far my searches for that person or business have turned up nothing.

I must admit I hadn't even considered the French Crit'Air legislation. My V5C does not specify any standard for emissions, does it pre-date Euro 3 I wonder?

[quote=John V6]That was a verbal statement from the dealer. Stock is 280 bhp I think. Either way it is fast enough Agreed- its already more than the chassis can really handle! Its more like 260 BHP as installed- the Morgan exhaust manifolds arent very nice So very similar to a Class B +8? The SSL 5L rear end does wonders to tame my +8, I suspect the same treatment could help a Roadster.

Williams Mog, ran an open Dyno day a few years ago & the original Mogmag did a writeup
They tested a stock 3.7, actual output was 297 bhp, and the tester said there was still a bit more but it hit a 155 mph limiter I remember that day - it was a good day out! The SSL 5L rear end does wonders to tame my +8, I suspect the same treatment could help a Roadster. Or fit the SSL upgrade to a factory 5 link rear - which some believe could do with improvement.

These are the areas you currently need a Crit’Air for, easy enough to get one: https://www.certificat-air.gouv.fr/en/Métropole d'Aix-Marseille-Provence ; Métropole Nice-Côte d'Azur ; Métropole Toulon-Provence-Méditerranée ; Toulouse Métropole ; Montpellier-Méditerranée Métropole ; Eurométropole de Strasbourg ; Métropole Rouen-Normandie.

Not sure if that is restricting or not , but nice to know that the system is easy and quick to use

Probably works better than the TfL LEZ/ULEZ system!

Graham, in one way yes you don't pay to drive an older car but if there is pollution then only certain cars with the right level can be used so you are stranded. John
