That is the best part of the S&S I bet.

I wonder if someone could make a simple collar that could be placed on the throttle body opening with a few blades to create some swirl. Would be simple enough to machine.

The stinger shapes the air flow and not create turbulence or a swirling effect. If there is a swirl coming off that stinger I would love to see the wind tunnel testing showing it.

Years ago i saw the wind/liquid turbulence created by a round ball flying through the air. You would normally think it would be smooth, but it was not, it was very disturbed as the rear side of the ball was creating very uneven flow of air where the air tried to go behind the ball. Bullet shape and air flow are a real science and speed of the object going through the air or the speed of the air over an object dictates shape. I suspect S&S used a wind tunnel to test the shape of the stinger.

that is why golf balls have dimples

I mean, the goals are usually to get as much air available in, at some velocity, and in a way that it’s going to spread fuel evenly once it enters the combustion.

A measure of rotation helps that mixture and can compensate somewhat for an otherwise less than optimal intake path. Swirling air tends to naturally distribute itself better due to having some inertia as opposed to relying solely on pressure differentials. That’s why I was suggesting it, not as a replacement to the stinger but to simulate some of it’s benefits.

I’d be curious to see what the back of the throttle body is like going to each cylinder.

my version of 'covering' the air filter , without destroying the original cover ;-)

Very classy and complete exposure of the filter element! 👌🏻
