DTM was the business at Brands Hatch when they were running V8's with 4" slash pipes exiting through the doors complete with flames, fabulous sights and sounds..
I've never got into the BTCC it all seems a bit tame to me and not much of a sound track.

Any fans of pops and bangs should hear Will Hall in his Force taking on a hillclimb ..... sounds like the Chinese army assaulting the track!!
K
Oh yes....
You can see him getting noticeably quicker as the runs progress .... Gubbio is part of the regular European Hillclimb Championship, whereas for the British drivers this was a one-off on a never seen track .... didn't stop them taking the top places in their class and putting two drivers into the top ten with the professional 'works' drivers on their first time visit to a familiar track for the competition🙂
Was at this Gubbio event (in a support/spectator/drinking buddy capacity) .... really great weekend. The next Masters is at Rampa da Falperra in Braga, Portugal in October .... all being well I intend to drive down in the Morgan for the end of season party with my racing buddies.😁

That is a brilliant showing by the Brits, it did rather amuse me the double snow sign quite close to the start line.
Hey that's going to be a great trip down there K, you must get in touch with Mario on here he likes his hill climbs too, Red Three went down and did well at Mario's home event, a fun one I think as I read it.

The Portugese fans were bonkers in Italy .... daren't think what they'll be like on home turf 🙂 ... Hillclimb in Europe is a very different thing .... paid 'works' drivers, big transporters, big teams very high profile .... not F1 but at least F3 level .... whereas in the UK it's an amateur sport with family and friends as crew and cars paid for out of the driver's pocket ..... they weren't used to the friendly 'family' atmosphere in the British team ...looking after each other's kids while drivers took their turn at the hill, helping each other with spares and spannering between races and partying and eating together in a big mob in the evenings .... that sort of thing is rare at the top there.
Big fan base though who are wildly enthusiastic and dedicated
Looking forward to Braga.

Ps ... If it's anything like here, the 'classic' hillclimbs are very serious .... scares me rigid seeing how hard they push with no roll bars or seatbelts .... at my local hill, Doune, the only time we've needed the air-ambulance recently was a mad historic driver getting chucked out of his rolling car (no drivers were permanently harmed in the production of this post🙂)
Surely its the engineers that have tuned the cars to pop and bang ?
The only modern car I've owned that did this was an Abarth 124 - sounded great, not so much of a bang more a loud burble. Certainly better than piping in fake exhaust noise through the speakers as many premium brands do now !
Pops and bangs are not always caused by unburnt fuel, a sudden change in exhaust back pressure has the same effect - perhaps that's what some modern cars are tuned to do ?
Our local Pikes Peak race has a good deal of pops and bangs, my Moggies crackle and pop when going down the mountain passes I do too due to my back pressure.
A visit to Pikes Peak is on my bucket list (along with Bonneville Speed Week and the Indy 500 as far as the States goes!) .... I'd dearly like to drive it, but the logistics of travelling/shipping and mods to the car means not in this lifetime 🙂
Our UK hillclimbs are short, sharp and narrow by comparison .... lot of adrenalin packed into a few seconds 😁
