Any idea what happened to the old Yahoo Groups Morgan Three Wheeler forum?

I'm semi-answering this myself really, since I'm aware that Yahoo discontinued their forum activity in 2019, but sure they set up another forum group somewhere?

Might it be an idea that a separate Vintage Forum is set up as an adjunct to this main Talk Morgan portal? My reason for saying this is that this particular forum is mainly the newer 5 speed model of course (and nothing wrong with it at all), I regularly look in out of interest.

My main reason for this suggestion is that I've just bought a 1933 Morgan family model (don't laugh!) and will need to exchange all kinds of ideas/request assistance etc, and this particular forum being geared to the 5 speeder more is not really attracting the vintage set...and I wonder where the vintage chaps have all gone.

I live in Ditchling, East Sussex, and I know that at least 1 if not 2 vintage machines are in nearby Burgess Hill, and own owner was a regular contributor, in fact he always wrote in a green font, and I've forgotten his name? The forum was regulated originally by Martyn Culling, but I believe that he died?

Anyway, if any of this chimes with others, how about a separate forum within the overall portal, but linked of course to the 5 speed page allowing crossover of ideas etc.

Obviously, if the old Yahoo group have set up another forum somewhere, and it lurks on the dark web somewhere (!) perhaps someone will kindly point me in its direction?

I don't know who is running the new Listserve, but I'm sure you'll find most of the old hands are there.

Hi Mark H, no disrespect of course, but I never see the really old names on this form, that inhabited the old Yahoo forum, and some of those guys had tremendous knowledge of the older models. Sometimes I see comments here that suggest older model owners should contact the MWTC, which is also very good of course, I've just rejoined, but there is no forum attached which is a pity.

Anyway, if we can uncover this google group, I might recognise some older names. I will of course post on here as well, as I have seen some older model owners as well. I've never driven a vintage machine with cable brakes and hand throttle, and expect I'm in for some fun!
I build my own three wheelers, but have a third pedal called an accelerator (!) and very good brakes of course, just like the 5 speeders here, so life is about to become fun I think?!

There's a growing number of owners who have both 5 speeders and classic Morgans on here so don't write this forum off too soon.

Your best source of info and contacts will be the Morgan Three Wheeler Club and if you haven't joined already then you really should.

Hi Chris, no, not writing anything off, just that I don't see any of the older names from that forum on this forum, Alan Sharp, (green ink) Brian Watts, those kinds of people.

I've just rejoined the MWTC, I was a member some years back.

I think I met you a few years ago at one of George Butler's fly-ins on John Randle's Church Farm Piltdown airstrip? George wanted me to organise a Spitfire to fly in, but the strip is a little short. Were you there the year the merlin engined Hanlye Special was there?

I noticed on the M3W facebook page, a chap selling chassis lugs, and I want to build up a new 3 speeder chassis from scratch, so we'll see what happens.

I think a vintage three Wheeler section on TM would be a great idea.

In addition to my four wheeled Morgans, I have 4 three wheelers in various states of disrepair dating from 1932 to 1936

When I collect this 33 Family model which I'm seriously looking forward to, as it looks so different to what so many people would think a Morgan three wheeler should look like, I'll have some serious questions. However the Family model was in production the longest, and in effect tended to spawn the F type of course. I really wanted an F type, but in reality it would have to be fully rebuilt and I'm always suspicious of "restored" cars with little documentation/zero photos! This Family model looks well documented and a new frame and repair chassis frame.
So perhaps a separate forum but seriously all linked in of course, might be good. I've just been on the google site, and I have to say that it, the old Yahoo site, and all facebook type pages all seem awful in comparison with a proper forum site such as this, ie far more user friendly all round?

What say the "management"?! It might draw more of the "old lags", those with masses of experience of older models to this site....after all, it is "Talk Morgan"...a far far better title and easier to remember/market etc, right across the board, and could perhaps be better for the MTWC as well, particularly in what must be a diminishing age related niche, regarding the older models. I say all of this as I'm in another society, Swiss railway Society, which would market itself far better if it had a far more user friendly forum/website. The Austin Seven Friends Forum is also another well run forum similar to this.
