I daren't even think about our mid 1500's property! We have single panes of very thin glass set direct in stone mullions and the attics have the bare minimum on insulation between the rafters, goodness only knows how much heat is lost. The only advantage is that with 2 foot thick stone walls there a decent thermal mass to store a bit of warmth.

FiT has been scrapped. Existing contracts will run off, but the replacement is nowhere near so generous. The Smart Export Guarantee scheme is only available to owners with smart meters and offers 5p/KWh. Not many suppliers are offering contracts with it yet, although AIUI they are obliged to do so if they have more than 150,000 supplied customers.

The whole area was dug up previously to move a lamp post (it was originally about four foot across my driveway, and they moved it to the dividing boundary between me and next door).

Spoke to the workers at the time, to see if they could rebuild it with a dropped kerb. 'Sorry mate, haven't got the authority'. Rang the council and after 15 'Sorry mate, not my department' got told they don't do 'private work'.

Our local council has organised a non binding group bidding process for solar, so far there’s 1700 homes signed up with a bid close date of the 23rd March. Could be interesting.
