Talk Morgan is an amazing Forum.

Just look at the level of experience it can bring to questions like mine. Thanks all but keep it coming, I respect all opinions.

Question for Heinz and John. Is the ECU mod you did (can do) on the S2 commercially available? What is it? Who does it? (I'll search on here as well)

I don't think there is any such thing as a perfect car in my price range (or maybe at any price) but it's good to know what the trade offs are and whether some of the short comings can be overcome. Such as an ECU mod on the S2.

Simon, ok so I was misinformed, no Jaguar engine, but it was the Mondeo engine. Thanks.

Bob, the ECU was changed via my Morgan dealer within the period of warranty. It was a MMC measure, no idea who made it for MMC, and also no idea if it is another hardware or just another programming.
The dealer and me thought that all S2 drivers would benefit from the change at this point of time but the offer disappeared quickly and calmly. Only a few cars got the ECU change to my knowledge at my dealers place.

Just a guess, may be Simon can confirm it. Later on I also had the S3 Model, Roadster Sports. The engine was almost identical with S2 but may be (I am not sure) the manifold had a slightly bigger diameter?

But this S3 car had no rev hang and plenty of power, it felt a bit like my S2 after the ECU change but slightly even more so.
May be you could be happy to get a S3 ECU (or that programming) and drive it in the S2? Perhaps easier to order or clearer to explain someone to want a S3 ECU than modifying an existing S2 ECU without any clue? The experts must tell if there are no issues to do so.

Librands did a flash for the ECU. I have now moved onto a 3.7l Brooklands Roadster as my S1 was T boned last August be white van man. It has taken a while to appreciate it. Partly I think because when I got it at 9000 miles it wasn't really run in. Now at 12.5k i Love it but the gearing makes it a different drive to an S1.

A vote for the S1 from me too, I also had the Bluefin ECU flash, owned it for almost 10yrs and super reliable if properly maintained

Good afternoon I have what i think is an S2 late 2009 early 2010 build date, with ford engine and gearbox lovely car to drive, ive never driven the S1, i have rev hang although i cant say it particularly bothers me , but I am interested in the ECU change. where do i source the ECU? is it a straight swop or does it require a spotty faced kid with a laptop to delve into the black magic world of computer trickery, will he steal Boris,s identity?

thanks

Librands sell / sold one
here

Williams I think also sell them.
I haven't used one so can't comment on if it fixes rev hang.

That's for the Series ! with the Black Oak management system. S2 is Different
Williams sell the same- because Williams owns/is Librands

Does Roadster rev hang affect cable operated throttle body cars as well as drive by wire TB cars?

The S1 doesn't suffer from rev hang at all.

I must admit I thought it was only the 3.7l cars.
