good afternoon ive got to the cause , its the lamp holder itself, so have ordered replacement from Leacy classic, they had the exact replacement with the correct male connector that plugs straight into the socket on my car. One last question is there a trick when fixing the lens back in place onto the lamp body? there are 2 brass screwed ferrules that the lens reflector holding screws screw into , its a bugger to keep the brass bits in place whilst trying to screw down the lens, how do you do it?
thanks

Quick way is to hold them in place with tape behind the unit, that’s how they are done back in the day but that’s because they were surface mounted. Our problem is there is a void behind so on a previous Morgan I had a fun day in the garage one winter making a large flat washer in aluminium for every lamp to fit between the lamp and the rubber seal. This stops them falling back as when fitting the lense push back slightly traps the brass lugs against the aluminium washer. Could use plastic if easier to access, a slot means you can slip over the wiring to save disconnecting where you are not fitting lamps and just want to do the mod.

Hi Richard,
I’ll bow to your depth of knowledge on all things electrical but........
In addition to my bulb holder stamped L794/L795 it is also stamped L691/L692. The lense is stamped L794 with reflector and not a ring type refraction (is that right?) as shown above
My car is a 2006 build so have I misunderstood? The two different shape lens will fit either holder Geof which probably explains the markings. If you fit an L691 lens to replace the deeper L794 you have to ditch the reflector within the holder. Don't ask how I know For this reason the rear lights don't have reflectors although I managed to cut down some spare ones to fit rear indicators using a Dremel. The Classics parts book 2006 - 2014 does indicate (pun?) that front lights use L691 lens but if you have the L794 ones allowing reflector I woud regard it as a bonus.

I use Evostik or similar contact adhesive, I put the screw only into the brass bit so you can pull it onto the right position.

L794s on the front were standard well before 2005.
Not all got the internal reflectors either. I use 794/5s on the rear because the lenses are deeper, and to me are a big improvement in looks.
I use electric tape on the rear of the units to hold the top hats. Locating the screws just needs a gentle touch until the thread grips. All mine are Allen headed now.

Thank you all for the help, i tried all of your suggestions, perhaps what was missing was the gentle touch , after half an hour of struggling my gentle touch is not so gentle

I had a similar issue with my indicators, here's my repair and a picture of one of two inline fuses behind the dashboard. Check and see if you have these in your car. One of mine blew, possible that it's shorted when you were repairing or trying it out. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2020/08/28/IMG_20200828_144619048.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2020/08/28/IMG_20200828_123402902.jpg)
