The tonneau cover is used all time and it is best to park in crowded areas. At parking garages I do fit the storm cover in addition. That covers most of the car and takes less than two minutes to fit and hides everything of any interest to sticky fingers. Only once something was stolen from my car. Happened in France, parking house in Avignon. The glove box was emptied.

If I've had to park up with bags on the rear rack, I've used a pacsafe. Originally bought it for the bikes, but works as well on the car,

Thanks all for the benefit of your experience, much appreciated!. I'll have a good look at all suggestions.
I would agree with one comment that its more to make me feel better about leaving the car.
Thanks again

In addition to all the foregoing, we always use a cable passed through the sleeves of our flying jackets and then locked to the steering wheel.. It gets a bit hot wearing them when walking about in the summer and just left in the car they are a great temptation to the light fingered mob.
Here for a good time not a long time!! Reg

Yes I agree the most you can do is hide your luggage or, possibly put a chain and padlock through all the baggage handles. On my rack I use a flexible cycle lock through the case handle and rack. Deterrent if nothing else. +1 for a flex cycle lock through the baggage. BR Colin

It was a very amusing comment until I realised I'd got it wrong 😂!

Sadly the new car comes without a tonneau - not sure why, but it will mean i have to find a new way to camouflage the bits and pieces! Anyone know why no tonneau is offered??

There was a thread on it on TM a few weeks back. Can't remember the reason. Hate this old age.
