In ten years of production and over 2000 M3Ws produced how many melted engines have we experienced? I'm in the ignorance is bliss camp and I did blow an engine (not due to oil pressure)!!!!!! How did you blow an engine?

Rather exciting driving leading to the sump plug ejecting itself at over 90 mph, only took a few seconds and engine cooked.

There were at least two that I know of that had the rubber seal disc in the cap drop out and cover the suction line hole in the oil tank. Oil starvation ....melted engine. I must admit it is not a common problem and you don't really need to know what is happening to the oil temperature and pressure but I like to know. It is very reassuring to see the oil temperature falling when the cooling fan cuts in on a hot day stuck in heavy traffic.

Remove the pressure gauge and drive in ignorant bliss  and don't forget the tape over the idiot light
