Well, the BBC News just now I think, has lost it's way. Too much repeating, too much filling in, too much "this is the anniversary of" rubbish, too many stupid questions.

The Philip thing will monopolise the news until he's buried. So look forward to a shedload of "what Philip did" programmes.

God help us if it is on all night. I too am no monarchist & the fawning way the TV commentators talk about people who get rank & privilege just due to their birth really winds me up.

He did a good job & I feel sorry for Elizabeth & family but have no desire to spends weeks on this.

God bless him. He had a good innings. cheers uk

I worry for the Queen at this point. She has hung on for so long. Change in this climate will be a devil and could go all over the place. Next thing you know there will be a Twit-ter vote for the next King/Queen and Trump will apply. pale

Sad news although he had a good innings. If his funeral is anything like Churchill's, the BBC coverage will have been planned at least 10 years ago.

The Queens consort has just died, off course its going to be on the telly a bit !

I see the rabid lefties on twitter are digging their talons in. ( predictably ) Prince Philip has done and achieved much more than those cretins ever will. Sick.

I wonder if the Queen will jack it in now and pass it on to Charlie ?

RIP, Sir.

I am proud to have served with Prince Philip as he was our Captain General and a very fine one too. I met him on a number of occasions in that military capacity, he was always proud of his Corps and a stalwart of standards. Those who have not served or fought for their country will struggle to understand what he stood for and no doubt disparage his name which is a sad reflection of today's society. There are few gentlemen like him left, Stand Easy Sir your Duty is done.

I admired him and his support for his wife, his sense of duty and values which seem to be fading away.
He had a long and successful life, his death was no surprise.
I very much doubt that the Queen will "do a Victoria", she will carry on until she dies.

I really have no wish whatsoever to have to endure saturation media coverage and analysis. Can't the media let him rest in peace? It seems not.
Thank God for Netflix, Amazon Prime and Apple TV.

For those of you who are questioning what the funeral will be and who pays for it I can tell you Prince Philip planned a low key funeral over 40 years ago. For a short time I was one of the designated Honour Guard and we used to rehearse both for his and Her Majesties demise. His funeral is not a State Funeral but a Ceremonial Funeral and a low key one at that (his request) paid for by the Monarchs estates, he was a man who wanted little fuss and hated people fussing around him.

I did have the same thought about the Queen now thinking " Enough is enough" and your comment re. the lefties is well said.
