I bought a battery a battery charger from Morgan but forgot to ask if I can charge my Plus 4 via the lighter socket. Does anyone know the answer to this question? Direct access to the battery doesn't look easy and I want to trickle charge it over the bad weather months.

I use mine all year round so no personal experience. See Maintenance and Servicing Page 7 12V Socket, in particular Robbies comment.

If you are using a 'intelligent' charger (my Accumate is one) connecting it only results in energy transfer if it sees a battery.
Thus the issue of whether the cigarette lighter socket is permanently live is solved (it should be) and also the fact it is can lead to poor connections.
Woodstock (the 4/4) has two banana sockets on the dash, and the Elk (the three wheeler) has two hidden under the passengers seat for charging purposes.

I use the battery charger on my +4 (2008) via the lighter socket during the winter. It works very well!

I use a battery conditioner on my Plus 8, via the cigarette lighter socket, whenever the car's not going to be used for a couple of weeks. It's always worked well for me.

Thank you to all those who have replied. I will attempt to use the lighter socket and monitor it to ensure there are no issues.

I have a Ctek charger and added the adaptor lead permanently to the Mog's battery. They are also fitted to other vehicles in my fleet - makes connecting quick & easy...

Easy for me - never start the car in the garage and the lead isn't long enough to reach along the driveway Cheers,
