I have a 3.9 and high pressure oil pump. Runs at 5 bar on start up when cold and 3.5 bar when warm/hot.

So why don’t we all worry about our tintops which merely have an oil light to warn us of low oil or pressure. Think all these gauges are nice to look at and “set the scene” but sometimes maybe it’s a case of “too much information”? Agree, gauges create a degree of paranoia always watching them.

I thought this upgrade was introduced with the serpentine belt equipped engines (circa 1993?) but Stephen's 1980 car has it (but is this the original engine) It replaced the low pressure/high volume pump of the older models. There were differences in some US export models so I can't be certain that your 1994 car will be high pressure but I am pretty sure it should be. What pressure does it run at once hot?

My 94 +8 runs on volume of oil rather than pressure the gauge reads around 2 to 2.5 bar when hot.

But they look shiny & sparkly. I miss the oil gauge on my 3.7l Roadster I love my oil guage, touchwood it's always been a source of great comfort! Not so much the fuel gauge always, but I'm getting to trust it more- last week I pumped in 55.5 litres having feathered the throttle for the last 15 miles- it had said empty for over 20 miles, began to sweat a bit! (275 miles on that tankfull)

My oil pressure sender failed some times ago! I tried to ignore the extreme "high pressure" but at the end the "missing" pointer disturbed me enormously .....

Did a run today to pick up another Morgan ( more to follow elsewhere ) When warm the gauge showed 3-3.5 bar pressure and down to 1.5-2 bar at idle. Coolant temp showed 80-85 with no traffic stops to reduce air flow. When my sender failed seeing the gauge false reading was concerning but knowing the ecu was getting separate data and not reacting was a mitigating factor. A new sender gave peace of mind. Technically it could be considered superfluous but does add a nice touch to the dash.
