With my plus 8 I just fill up every time I pass a filling station.
All contributions to my petrol fund gratefully received!

Even though I have a modest Zetec engine 4/4; I just fill up when the gauge drops below half full.
After so many years of ownership, I don't bother to check fuel consumption.

While touring Switzerland with a group a few years ago I was asked what fuel consumption I got and as I had been keeping an eye on it I was able to say "on this trip just better than 40 to the gallon". The challenge to that was "What even climbing these passes?" to which I replied "It uses a lot going up, but going down is free"

I thought I would resurrect this thread rather than start a new one (please note Mr Wegg)

Just done my first fuel consumption check on my new to me Roadster 3.0L and I was disappointed at 30 MPG.

That was run fairly hard as I've been playing a lot with acceleration runs and pulling as hard as I dare off the bends etc to enjoy my new found power.

However, reading this old thread it seems that might not be too bad although it seemed it compared to my old 2.0L Zetec 4/4.

So update please. What should I expect from the Roadster driven fairly enthusiastically but not race track type madness.

My S1 gave an average of 28.9 over some 45k miles. The 3.7 seems to be around 26 but most of that has been in cold weather

To be honest, that's a pretty good fuel consumption figure for the engine, especially with your sporty driving style. I had three Roadsters with the three different engines from S1 to S3. I've averaged little better than 25 to 27 mpg, but I've also driven about 100+ mph on the motorway as part of the routes.

That sounds reasonable to me. In my series one roadster I used to believe I averaged 30 mpg but I could get 33 on a run. But if I was in a driving mood it could go mid twenties.

My 2005, 3L Roadster: 0,72litres/10km for touring. 0,90litres+, driven enthusiastically

Bob, my S1 gave around 30 but on long european tours I could squeeze it upto 34/35

Just done 450 miles into lovely Wales & back in the 3.7 & got 33.4 (although shows as 27.8 US on the dash)

I think I've been seduced by many years of 40+ Diesel consumption numbers.

I used to get about 37 - 38 mpg out of my 160bhp 2 Litre Zetec 4/4 and I did think I would be getting a bit above 30 from the 3 Litre, 220 bhp Roadster.

It doesn't bother me but as some have said, fuel consumption can be a good indicator of how well an engine is running.

I will re-calibrate my brain to 30 mpg although westgardronning appears to be getting between 32 & 39 mpg if my conversion is correct.
