Has anybody looked at the Harley Davidson ECU, Delphi I think.
Code 41000012A. It is made by S&S and is purported to be same as ours. But is unlocked?

I saw this on a forum somewhere quite by accident, so mentioned from position of ignorance. Lol

I also, just for the hell off it, tried to unpack the box file. An online option did do this to show there are two bin folder and a XML file present
Code.bin, Data.bin and Directory.XML

Haven’t been able to find a means to see what’s in these, other than Notebook which is of course shows a load of ?Hex? Characters

Protune doesn’t recognise the bin suffix. Latest version that is. Will try an earlier version in case it is less politically correct

To help understand the above files, try the freeware Notepad++.

I have found it is very good at helping to understand unknown file types and their contents.
It will display the contents in hex , ascii etc and display them in a clear understandable way.

As it is an editor it will also let you modify files , so be careful !

Opening and reading the box file is one thing, what we need is someone expert in coding to isolate the unlock code at the beginning of the urban cooling kit flash that Morgan sent you. The flash would have unlocked the ECU, changed (or overwritten) the ECU map to enable the fan switching and then relocked the ECU.

The XML will be easy to read and may help in the detective work.

Any suitably qualified volunteers?

I don't know the specifics of this ECU, but in the industry locked firmware updates will usually require a secret to generate either encryption, or some kind of signature/hash, that the ECU will accept and load. Without access to this secret that either S&S or Morgan hold, you won't be able to modify the binaries.

You would think that MMC would provide the unlock code and the Stage 2 file to download along with a release form absolving MMC of any liability for using the updated file for off road racing. It would put all the liability back onto the owner and also provide for a happy owner, something that MMC definitely needs.

I had a look using Notepad++ as u suggested and it shows lots of geeky stuff (technical jargon lol).

Nothing recognisable unfortunately

After my "bafflectomy", cat removal and S&S stealth air filter installation the standard ECU did not allow big enough adjustment to allow the engine run well on both low ang high rpm´s.

I changed the ECU to the S&S VFI Module Kit 55-5090 from Delphi and had a local tuner fine-tune the standard mapping. The engine now is running better then ever. As far as I understand this ECU is still available?

If that is still available then what are the chances of being able to share the map or is the Tune so specific that it cannot be used in another Mog?

I inquired with S&S and they said the starting function was one of the things that would have to be worked out. Now I don’t know WHAT in the start function they were referring to, whether timing or fuel mix but that was the Tech dept that said it.

Can i assume that you are able to use ProTune to monitor and adjust it?
