The comment on customer service is interesting. Not sure niche car players - even Morgan - can prosper with bad publicity...

“For 112 years, Morgan has listened to its customers, offering a bespoke service that has made it famous the world over,” said Steve Morris, Morgan’s CEO.

They didn't listen to me in 2017 when I asked for just for rear over-riders to be fitted. It had to be both front and rear!

While a don’t want to criticise the presenter of the new video as the script and manner has quite an irreverent charm and made me think of how Rolex announce a tiny change to a sports watch after 15 years and the world goes mad

But his style is from the Jeremy Clarkson school of presenting, putting pauses where you least expect them or want them if you want any of it to make any coherent sense

Perhaps it's just me but he announces that the Plus Six will now come fitted with the comfort plus seat as standard - we have had at least one VW on the fleet for as long as I can remember and without exception we as a family have always found them comfortable and VW never mentioned it and they have all cost considerably less than the Six grin2

He looks like Cummings to me and sound bites as he does so I could be biased..

Your English is fine! smile
The new roof is being fitted to new cars now - has been in production for a few weeks.

I found the seats in my 2005 Polo affected my back after 3 hours plus. The annoying part was the seat height adjustment that didn't stay where set when entering/exiting.

Bah, humbug... destroying an essential part of the "Morgan Wet Weather Experience".
Whatever next?
Traction control, torque vectoring, rear wheel steering?

I may be in the minority, but I find the Aero S4 seats used in the Plus 8 to be possibly the most comfortable car seat I've ever experienced in 50 years of car ownership... That alone makes the Plus 8 a keeper...
(The Tesla seats are not at all bad, bye the way.)

Talk doesn't show the details......so yeah it was a nice enough chat but it would have been a load better if they had actually shown these improvements.

That's why it's better to give it a couple of years, so the "improvements" filter through!!

Having worked for a few car manufactures, what Morgan is doing is not anything new. Every OEM updates their offerings based on customer feedback, changes in suppliers, production efficiencies etc.

If I use the venerable VW Golf as an example, I recall when the MK8 came out that VW was updating dozen's of parts within months of going into production without anyone being the wiser. They then subsequently took a few features that were optional and made them standard for yet more efficiencies.

As for naming the seats Comfort and Comfort Plus, this too is more common than you think. Sticking with VW, they do name many of their seats and even ones that are standard, depending on trim level. i.e Ergo-Comfort is often called out. Porsche name their standard seats in most offerings as Sports Seat with an upgrade to Sports-Plus.

In regards to Morgan making comments on retrofitting upgrades, why would they need to offer this? I recently purchased a bespoke Porsche 718 Boxster GTS with the 2.5 engine. A few months later Porsche dropped that engine and shoehorned in a 4.0, along with a few updates. It never crossed my mind on why Porsche isn't offering me a way of making any of those upgrades. They are not obligated. Same happened with my 4/4 80th. I was one of the first to order and take delivery. As more came out, I noticed Morgan added a few more things one could select and changed a few of the details. Here again, Morgan isn't under any obligation to ring me up or reverse engineer the possibility for me to benefit. If I can buy the upgraded part and install, great, my choice. You would be shocked on how many parts in a car are superseded from what was originally put in from the factory for parts that are better, more robust etc. It happens.

Lastly, let's not forget that the Trads have been given continuous updates for decades and I expect the CX will be getting the same treatment.

Just felt the need to back Morgan up a wee bit wink As Dave W rightly pointed out, sometimes it is best to hold out for a bit if you are concerned about niggles and updates. However, as mentioned above, you can wait a lifetime and never get a car if one waits for the next one rounds of updates.

This is a common thing in cars. Launch, tweak, update. Offer “specials” to clear out stock in readiness to introduce a new, updated version. Price of updated version goes up. Also some updates are needed to correct rushed through shortcomings that were left to meet launch dates.
Trad Plus8 ......Rover V8 engines were running out so the last cars became special editions.

No manufacturer achieves a perfect car, no matter how big their development budget is. I remember my new '93 Mercedes E coupe had an intermittent fault within days of collection. Mine apparently was the first in the UK with twin airbags and new door security system. It transpires that two wires that passed thru a metal tube were too tight and chaffing on the end of the tube and shorting. It took ages to fix whilst I waited, the reason being Mercedes Service not only contacted the UK centre, the technician repairing my car was talking to the Production team in Germany about the fault, so it could be corrected on the production line........I'm sure others have similar tales to tell.

There are some fault/shortcomings which one can forgive and others that are pretty piss takingly poor and should never have been allowed to happen, its not like they have just started out manufacturing cars, after 110 years they should get the basics right. The difference for me is the way in which manufacturers handle the problems, a very small dealer network with finite resources will struggle with major recalls without question.

I’m going to wait a few more years for a CX platform Mog just incase that new cowl badge flakes and corrodes after 10 minutes of driving in slightly heavy air, like the last one!
