I expect the car speedo will have a 2% variation depending on whether the tyres are brand new, or worn to the limit (6mm/300mm=2%)?

...and tyre pressures will have an effect, especially in the Morgans with taller sidewalls?

I expect these variations will exceed the GPS error.

Not sure of the relevance of all this when the average speed scameras in our are are clearly set well above 60 mph in a 50 zone. Reality is that most people drive at the traffic flow speed except on the open road where overtakes might actually achieve something. In 30 limits and the like you trundle on at the same speed as everyone else confident that the authorities arent daft enough to set the scameras to catch everyone.

Maybe I am tempting providence but I dont watch the speedo so much as go with the flow and I havent been done for speeding since 1989.

The 10 percent plus 2 isn’t something to be relied on nor is going with the flow. Earlier this year I was in a line of traffic on a Dual carriageway with a 50 limit and received a summons for driving at 57 mph. No point complaining and at least the speed awareness course was online, although I remain miffed. Ironically I was on my way to receive my first Covid jab!

10 % plus 2 is not mandatory and many forces ignore it and set lower limits, be warned.
