I second that!

I retired from full time employment in late 2018. In 2019 I was busy with much consulting work, then the big COVID arrived and life slowed.... I now consider myself 100% retired.
Once the pollen season is over I'll be out and about in Tarka.

A great run out with Hawki to Dovercourt & the beach for a walk followed by a bacon roll. Then onto Shotley Gate for a beer and home.
Ted the dog came along to keep us in check and snaffle up any escaped bacon.

My last day was 10 October 2018, but my boss wanting me back ASAP. I spent 2019 working in the garden etc. waiting for contact paperwork and went back to work 15th January 2020, now extremely busy but thinking it is time to pull the pin maybe later this year and be 100% retired. Too many people I know just a bit older are dropping off the perch much earlier than expected.

Managed to get out today to take documents to the book-keeper in Horsley and on to Newlands Corner to see what is there, guess what, this little beauty on display. 1930 Austin 7. Had a long chat with the owner who bought the car restored (by Clive) and carried out various modifications to help it be more traffic friendly, brakes, cylinder head, carburettor, exhaust and so on. he drives it regularly.

Similar design and build to my 2009 Morgan

While we were talking a chap turned up on this:

The motor cycle gurus can correct me, I believe he mentioned 1978 model, fairly original, big disc on the front and apparently stage 11/2 tuning, steering damper, very cute clock nestled in the centre of the handle bars and an ammeter sunk into the headlamp surround. As you hear, I got the full story.

The Austin looks a cracker, the last one I was attracted to was a fabric bodied and also a boat tail in red. From a dull memory I think it was a Gordon England special. I like the Commando too, last rode an 850 at the IOM had fun with an BMW R100S I passed him on the twisties and he passed me on the straights...I was much younger then.. (-:

I have a friend with a couple of Austin 7s. He says that for many years he couldn't really go anywhere in them as he held everyone up but now the traffic is so slow everywhere that he happily goes out in them all the time!
