Thanks George, the picture of the Bugatti and story of your car is an interesting one in particular the link with Lorne.

Not too bad on the wheel front there, that'll soon weather in I suppose.

Have those mudguards just been stuck on for the racing I wonder as they certainly stick out like a sore thumb, however I love the oil stains running down from the steering linkage a proper motor car in the real sense.

I shall continue to get my annual fix of patination at Revival, you get planes as well and a lovely friendly crowd of similar minded folk to chat with, you never come away without having made new friends.

I have no intention of renewing my passport or venturing overseas, I did far too much of it on business and have no desire whatsoever to venture away from Gods County really other than visiting our three youngsters so Montlhery is out of the question for me, although I would like to meet Philippe who is a regular there and like me carries a fair bit of patination himself .

He looks like a bandit...

Another great pic Richard, those radial engines are amazing bits of kit.

Lorne was my Morgan mentor and very generous with his time too, even to the extent of sourcing my +8 and answering every silly question I could think of asking.. I am ever in his debt, as are no doubt many who take GoMoG for granted.

If patina is of great market value in France, then I guess the Bugatti owner could find someone with the knowledge of creating matching patina, in the same way that a paint perfectionist might do here..

I took quite a few pics of old race cars at the LM Classic, many of which wore their patina with pride and were obviously engaged in acquiring more as they sat in the pits resting and perspiring somewhat, as were we, given the very hot weather at the time of the event.

Seems many had mudguards fitted Richard, may have been to comply with some regulation..?

Thank you for sharing your pics George, some wonderful cars there with signs of sweating underneath them so lovely to see them used in such a way.
I'm sure it's just me but those wings just look out of place on the Bugatti unlike the Morgan where they seem to fit ok.

Talking radial aero engines, when we had our TM visit a couple of years ago to Haynes and Yeovilton we saw an exposed Sea Fury engine and what an enormous unit that was but beautifully engineered, I find them awe inspiring things.
