Black on black is all very well but IMHO it needs a wood panel dash and perhaps some wood trim on the doors.

The wheels go well with the Plus 8 Super Sports style of the car but a touring version would look good with more elegant wheels and would need a spare.

Is there space for a set of golf clubs? (or at least the beauty case )

Agreed, but it is only a prototype. I am sure that when they build a demo it will have a more plush spec.

I understand that there will be other wheel options, as for the spare see my previous reply.

A luggage rack is being developed and there are even rumours of specially fitted luggage, though whether this incorporates a beauty case I can't say!

The obsession with no spare on the trads is a continuing irritation to me, because it spoils the look IMO. But in this case it looks like the cover is screwed on so reasonably simple to fix, but obviously yes - for ££££££££££.

Just had MrsW's Polo in for service. I'm getting lazy in my old age. The gearchange was a tad sticky across the gate so I asked them to lubricate it. This translated into "difficulty changing gears". "That's not what I said" I said.
"Well it will need a partial strip down to access the linkage,(£47.00) and if that doesn't do it, it may be a gearbox out job...." I don't like being patronised, even in a nice manner so I told them to forget it. When I got it home last night, a quick perusal of the Haynes Manual showed that to partially remove the centre console was a ten minute job, made harder by ultra small torx head screws. As you might expect I have some ultra small torx head drivers. So after a bit of fannying around I had access to the gearstick ball, and gave it some aerosol chain lube. Next I treated the cables and selectors on top of the gearbox - easy access under the bonnet. Guess what. It's transformed the gear selection. I'm very happy with the VW dealer most of the time but sometimes they just don't get what customer service really means. They could have done that free of charge in ten minutes and I would have been very happy.

But getting back to the Morgan theme, I'm still wondering about a 4/4 with an uprated engine. There are some nice Cosworth Duratecs at Burton Power. But a 3.7V6 in a Plus 4 body would also make a great car. But I'm still fancying an Elise, and the VW dealer has a new Golf Cabriolet in the showroom - black with red leather and it just looks fantastic.

I need a cold shower.

Having recently driven 4/4, +4 and Roadster all on the same day I didn't take long to come to the conclusion that 6 cylinders ticked the most boxes and the wider track was never an issue

My two penn'orth: seems a shame to me that the factory didn't take the opportunity to centralise the headlights midway between the cowl and the wing: the huge inboard gap seems to emphasise the expanded waistline.

Also agree with Dave that I'd want a spare - both from aesthetic and practical considerations. The rump of this car looks vast! Maybe a spare would serve to break up that slab of a tail a bit (and with a few other essential options, would help raise the price above £90K and on towards the magical ton )

Whilst on wheels - do we know if the wheel choice here is final? The ultra-low profile looks all wrong to me on a trad body.

But what do you do if you want more power than a Plus 4 and don't want to pay the higher tax and insurance charges of a 3.7 litre? Now that the 3 litre V6 is out of production morgan really lacks something between the current 2 litre 4 and the de-tuned Mustang 3.7 litre.

Don' say the Plus 4 SS because that is not available LHD and in any case the run is just about finished.

I have thought about this a lot and the conclusion is that if more power than a plus4 is required and you don't want higher annual tax(in Ireland the difference between a plus4 and a 3.7 Roadster is €1500 PER YEAR!)then the solution is to either fit a set of throttle bodies or get Chas Windridge to fit a turbo!!

I'm going to leave my car as standard as the insurance co quoted me an extra shed-load if I do either
