Having recently made up a new GB plate to clip to the luggage rack on my Morgan, I now see that the government/ Grant S. have announced a change. Worried that “GB “ does not include our friends in Northern Ireland, the sign will now be changed to “UK”
The AA are also very displeased with a stock of 50,000 GB signs that are now worthless!
Oh, and EVs are going to have green plates.

I am looking at making a new plate for my +4, just as well it's still at the drawing stage!
Thanks for the info.

The change from GB to UK in order to include NI, promptly succeeded in excluding the Crown Dependencies!.

Apparently Jersey has already stated to the appropriate authorities (The UN I believe) that it will retain the existing GBJ.

( Although as we are not part of the Great Britain either - and the direction that the UK is going, I would have preferred it if they requested a change to JE or JY.)

This level of obfuscation has been floating around in IT for years.

Some places you will select GB and other (installation of MS Win 10 operating system for example) requires that we be UK.

Wait for the press to blow it up to a storm.

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Oh Good I just fitted new plates with GB on them, with the Union Flag as advised by the gov.uk website

Do you need to have the country code actually on the plates?

As if there weren't better uses for Govt time at the moment? .... quite what it will achieve eludes me .... even within Northern Ireland the majority of people who may be actually bothered will be of the nationalist political camp .... and a UK plate will be just as much an anathema to them as a GB plate, seeing as they want one with IRL on it ...along with the abolition of NI altogether .... pointless exercise.

Probably not as long as you have GB, or now UK, somewhere on the vehicle. I did it to be cool and up to date - I should know by now .......
