The PLA melts at 220 degrees in order to perform the extruded print. I would be concerned it might sag, or melt in latent heat once static. I should maybe just run with it, and keep an eye on things once home. That might be easy to test. Print some hood ornament ans stick it to the air cleaner... if it doesnt melt...

I think it would have to be attached to the exterior of the throttle body somewhere.

Die someone produce this Stinger already in metal? I had exact the same idea…

Does this really make a difference without the full stage one kit? I must admit that I fitted the G56 cover prior to also fitting the exhausts and noticed no real difference in performance. Adding the G56 exhausts transforms the drivability of the car but in my experience it was the exhausts that made the biggest difference.

Air flow capacity on the inlet presumably impacts performance more in when you are consuming more air ie at high revs. So probably useful on a race track, and probably more for looks on the roads... (said as one who changed the exhaust not the intake, so again I might be wrong!)...

I have both components of the stage 1 kit from G56 (Cover + exhaust) and the diference is really obvious … I agree that the cover makes only sense in combination with the exhaust pipes. But I think the S&S Designer of the high flow cover had some reasons for their design of the „stinger“ ist should reduce the turbulences of the incoming air. See https://youtu.be/n3f3GtmGmhU?t=9 Maybe the final result is a minor effect but it would be easy for me to produce the metal version out of the existing 3D file for a test…

I’m all for engineering and enhancing our cars. I love the idea of this custom piece but didn’t want anyone to think that the air intake alone will dramatically change performance because it won’t.

Improvement of what goes in has to have improvement of what comes out to make any noticeable difference. Its the same on all my Mogs installing straight through exhaust with forced air intake on my +8 made a considerable difference to improved performance

In my view an internal combustion engine is an air pump, with controlled explosions of fuel and air to make it go round. So (within practical limits) the bigger the input and outputs of air and fuel for bigger explosions, the more power the pump has.
