The Moggie has done this a couple of times following filling up with petrol.

Starts fine but then misses (no cylinder in particular----either or)
Then the engine management light fires up (presumably due the lamba sensor in the down pipe)
Travel about a mile the missing goes and the engine light goes out when she runs smooth.

Is this an indication of the pump on the way out ?

It happens when you continue to fill the tank passed the first "click" shut off of the pump, always stop at the first "click".

It isn't an indication that the fuel pump is on it's way out (although if it is the OEM item it could easily be) it is an indication that you have overfilled the fuel tank on refill, a well known and common error by new owners. There is a lot on this forum about it if you do a search but essentially only allow a maximum of 3 clicks with about 15 seconds between clicks when topping the tank up. The wait between clicks allows the tank levels to equalise. Some will tell you much less but that seems to work for me.

If you do over fill it then the engine will run rough for a few miles, sometimes many miles (20 or so) before clearing fully. The "check engine" light is also a usual indication with this, no worries. You may have to clear the fault codes and even the adaptive maps if it persists.

You just have to disconnect the small pipe which comes from the caniter on the pappilon casing.

Three clicks on the pump with a pause between works for me, maybe get another 6 litres or so into the tank.

The CLICK METHOD depends a lot on the pumps and the way they are set to release. I have had the one click method doing just fine and gave me a full reading on the gauge and then the station installed new pumps. Now it would read 3/4 tank full of fuel after the first click. Then I had to experiment with how many clicks to get to a full tank. Change gas stations and it all needed to be learned again. PITA…

The side from which you fuel has can have an impact as well. Filling from the left side-more inline with the tank filler neck-I find one click gets me pretty full. Filling from the right side, I find it much more likely the pump will click off well before the tanks are full.
