The economy hasn't been reduced by much if any, if you drive it modestly. Not sure about the Emerald ECU that you are using but the S&S one does have a rev limiter function, usually set for a soft cut at 5500rpm as standard I think but that can be reset to 5700 soft cut and 5800 hard cut to get the full safe limits.

I am goingbto be trying an S&S ecu tuned to Stage 2 by mmc but i doubt it will able to be adjusted.

They will provide a stage 2 tuned ecu, but it will be locked and non adjustable.

That is exactly what I understood, but one could get lucky and they forget to lock it :-) They seem to forget a lot of other thing.

However the basemap will be better suited to G56 exhausts and then the adaptive range should be able to cope with the more open exhausts.

Boy did spellcheck mess this up. I have no illusions that MMC will provide and ECU that is adjustable, but since I have the AR exhaust system the base maps should be closer than the G56 ECU base map, and the G56 is adjustable. So I am going to give the MMC/S&S ECU a try to find out the difference.
Planenut, are you using the MMC ECU tuned for Stage2?

Stephen,

I’m curious about why you’re going to try to switch from the Emerald to an S&S ECU. Is there something the Emerald isn’t doing well? Just wondering as I haven’t yet installed cams and have the Emerald to pop in when I do the cams.

I do not have the skill to work the program for tuning it. The tuner i had in mind went out of business between the time i ordered the ecu and the time i received it. Covid hit their business hard. The cold start needs to be turned leaner for sure. Once hot it starts and runs fine but cold it starts stumbles a bit on take off, like running with a choke engaged. Warm it at idle for a couple of minutes snd it works fine.

Makes sense. I haven’t looked into where to actually get a tune. I just kind of assumed since there are so many tuners in Southern California I’d be able to find one.

I wonder if this is something g56 or emerald could potentially help with by sharing your screen with them?
