After lingering slightly too long on Brightwell's auction site, I seem to have bought this...

Lot 75: Austin Seven Chummy

It's a 1935 Austin 7 Ruby fitted with an earlier "Chummy" body. I'm having it delivered on Thursday

Bought sight unseen and I've no previous experience with anything this old so interesting times ahead!

Very nice. I bet you will have much fun with it.
A real "All-creatures-great-and-small-car"...

I myself have often looked at Ford Model A offers on the Internet. Let's see, maybe someday ...

One of my favourites Ian and with the rad cap mounted temp gauge thumbs On the M3W tour of North Yorkshire we had a Chummy tag along. It always arrived first at each location although it did set off in advance. Only issues were regular magneto changes (they carried two spares) as it was a 1927 model with headlamps by windscreen.

Enjoy drive

I will be VERY interested how you get on with the 7. I too have looked many times at buying one just for the sheer fun of owning something that simple that has the potential for giving so much joy. I wish you much happiness to come.

That is a wee cracker as they say in the local vernacular.. (-: It fair pulls at my heart strings, but in terms of practicality I fear it would live in my life as a garage ornament, and even more rarely driven than my Morgan these days... blush

Rory rebuilt the engine in our RN Box, with a Phoenix crank it would of been £3k. The Phoenix crank is evidently unbreakable….

I’m am sure it will provide a lot of fun, they are very simple cars and easy to work on. However I think I’m needing a diff rebuild, it’s the only thing that hasn’t been rebuilt as it’s making horrendous noises..
