Yet another consequence of the ridiculous decision to leave the EU and the crass idiocy of the Tory government. I assure you that any car with a GB plate will be welcome in Ireland -- We couldn't care less!

Not quite sure what all the fuss is about, a few stickers to change to UK which is consistent with our passports which clearly identify us as of United Kingdom of Great Britain and NI. I personally have never by choice had a GB number plate on my car, when it was required, a GB sticker wasn't that great an imposition to apply to the vehicle.

I tried getting a new numberplate made with the UK emblem as we are away to Spain on 28 Sept and after trying several sites I have used before, none yet offers that option for the number plate.... I just did a Google search for: UK number plates - there seemed to be several companies offering the new UK option, and obviously you can order plates without the UK/GB badge anyway. Use a separate sticker or badge, which might be easier to change if we join Europe again!

When we went to Ireland a couple or 3 years ago we had plain UK number plates, no EU blue stripe.
No one seemed to care.
Probably only in France would one be of interest to the Police.

My gripe is why do we actually NEED to change? What imperatives are there that require it?
It smacks to me of political correctness interference “just in case” someone with over the top political agenda ideas sticks their oar in and a case of appearing to be doing the right thing.
Jesus H Christ ( apologies) but there are far mote important and urgent things that need attention.
We need more MP’s due to increasing workload? Bollocks. Cut out the unnecessary shopfronting and spend time on things that MATTER.

The front number plate on my Saab now has a "Treehugger" sticker, after the lorry in front broke a large branch from an overhanging tree  Fortunately only minor damage to radiator.

Probably some Tory MP has got a mate who's bought a number plate company and now has a £3 Billion contract to replace the plates of the seven Gov't cars that drive overseas....

I stuck a small Devon sticker over my EU GB front ends on the Fiesta, Heathers GTI is a clean plate as is my Plus 8.
