I was some what embarrassed to have to use my debit card for a 10p washer at the local DIY store as they do not accept cash anymore......I almost fell into the trap of getting something I didn't need to just bump up the cost to what I would consider a respectable level for an electronic payment, but they didn't bat an eyelid and said its not that unusual these days..

There is already a commitment in place to increase the percentage of E in pump fuel, I have a chart of the % vs date, but can't find it, but rest assured it is happening

To hit the carbon reduction commitment we need about a 7% cut in CO2 emissions year-on-year for the next 30 years, so ICE cars have got no real prospect of continuing in mass use beyond the next 15 years or so I would think, possibly sooner. None of us particularly like the idea so we're going to have to be forced into it through a combination of legislation and taxation.

Exactly, my earlier comment about feeling lucky if E5 was still available in 10 years time no matter what the price was serious, never mind trying to get a reduction in price as that is taking the piss in my book for us lucky people that can afford to run toys for our amusement.

It is sometimes easy to lose sight of the real world around you if you take your eye off the ball, we are very aware down here in the South Hams of the massive disparity in lifestyles and have put things in place to even such things up in the quiet Devon way.

Don't forget E85....
Despite being introduced around a decade ago, E85 is no longer commercially available in the UK although it remains widely available on forecourts across Europe and North America, often called bioethanol E-85 or flex Fuel.
It is 85% Ethanol and 15% hydrocarbons, so it is even more hygroscopic than E10.

What to do if your vehicle is not compatible with E10 petrol
Continue to use E5 petrol in the ‘super’ grade (97+ octane), which will remain available at many larger filling stations. Make sure you check the label before you fill up.

Note the warning on rubber fuel lines in https://check-vehicle-compatibility-e10-petrol.service.gov.uk/manufacturer/Morgan - wonder if that applies to the M3W?

Reminds me a little of the hoohaa when they introduced unleaded fuel and phased out leaded (although I read recently that leaded fuel was still being produced until a month or so ago).

We all adapted and overcame the obstacles, either by using additives, or forking out for major head work (or some just bought a new car that was suitable for unleaded).

Similar will probably happen with current classics - I've already replaced fuel lines for ethanol proof. If the tank suffers, will replace with a stainless, and if the carb gets effected, will fit a throttle body kit. If we lose petrol completely, I'll get an electric motor banged in.

I'm sure the puritans will grumble, but I'd much rather be out driving, than polishing a redundant ornament in a shed.
