I reckon the super stuff will cost me less than £100 per year this is excluding the better performance and slightly better mpg. I`ll pay it. Just taken my nephew`s 11 year old out for a blat in the Mog - the pleasure he got from it was worth almost any amount. Yes it's nothing in the scheme of things is it and at 22mpg it'll be a wee bit more but compared to the pleasure derived it's nothing. Great stuff, nothing compares to the delight of watching the newcomers enjoying their first taste of a Morgan p.s. A neighbour has a 4x4 diesel SUV thing and he pays £560 in road fund license so the Plus 8 is a bargain at £280 and the Polo GTI at £150 and Fiesta £30..

I'm saying this as I duck behind a wall, "we should pay more tax". At least 2-3 pence to avoid becoming a third word country and 4-5 pence to look like the wealthy nation we are.

We're supposedly the 5th or 6th richest country in the world, but should we really have 15 million people in poverty, over 2,000 food banks, and the lowest state pension in Europe?

Yes we should pay more tax, but target those areas of financial gain/profit first that are not subject to any form of taxation be it income or capital gains tax as they tend to become tax free investment instruments eg classic cars, watches, art, wines. Why should someone earning money from a days work (and its taxed) be treated differently from someone earning money from selling his classic car, watch, fine wines. Tackle the untaxed investment instruments and capital gains first before increasing income tax rates. Level up the playing field so the burden doesn't fall further on the less advantaged in society, so we can take more out of the income tax regime altogether. The level of state pension is also relative to the cost of living in each country, I can assure you the Irish state pension is not generous when the local cost of living is taken into account

First we need to address avoidance. evasion and general criminality which sees taxation as an easy way to make money. Like elsewhere, massive reductions in staff and experience has damaged the Treasury's ability to deal with this. Celebrities and football related activities are some of the worst.
I would also enlarge the scope of Road Tax at the top end, and also add a few pence onto fuel costs, but at the same time develop public transport to make it more appealing.

Well the black market cash society which estimated about 15% of the UK economy, is much easier to control, just do away with cash. Make every transaction digital and all will be captured thru the banking /credit card system and track ownership of cryptocurrencies .
Public transport is not the solution beyond high density urban areas, eg we have no buses or trains that directly link the town with its local hospital, most doctor practices are not on bus route......a situation much worse I'm sure in rural communities which also have more than their fair share of poor, why should they be disadvantaged because of where they live. Rural fuel prices tend to be higher than urban areas and the fuel costs I'm sure consume a bigger % of their budgets as they are more reliant on their vehicles, as there is little or no public transport.

The last time I paid cash for anything was in a cafe in Wrotham, a cappuccino for £2.80 (gulp, London pricing) - I had to go to the cash machine next door to get a tenner..
