Not forgetting the amount of hot air produced when they speak.....

They did ask me if I could give Boris a backy on the bike down to Cornwall, but I had to promise not to attempt to punch him to death so I declined.

Wow, what a coincidence we very nearly went to KH too as we were in Horning, but a scan of Mog stock on the website revealed very few so we stayed put, watching boats

Probably irrelevant - in the same way an FP Journe or Philippe Dafour watch is. Meaningless when a Casio watch will do more for pennies.

But thankfully we live in a world where these things are possible and where we currently have the freedom to buy them. smile Having owned several V12's and V8's I am a big fan of huge engines.... as I am a fan of Tesla too. Takes all sorts.

You’re absolutely right and Alistair’s summary of the value these big cars offer while still relatively new makes a lot of sense.
I’ve changed my mind, now I quite like it, but only second hand!

I am not willing to "justify" any choice I make be it on cars, wine, HiFi, food, toys, etc.
I spend my money on things that give us pleasure.
Should I buy a winning Lottery ticket a Bentley Continental is a certainty, as is a Sauna (but not in the car)

Peter, as I said to Alistair the thread is about the ball not the player, at this time it doesn't make any sense at all to launch such a thing, just because you can etc.... the fact Will Iam or whatever his name is wants one makes total sense though wink

I suspect they are immensely proud that they can boast a tenuous link to their F1 car laugh2

Rich,
The cars are relevant as technology showcases and more importantly as toys for a sector of the car buying public who want this sort of thing.
Even more importantly, they are very profitable, much more so than the small crossover runabout: I'd guess that the margin on the AMG at £200k is fat better than on 6 x £30k family SUVs.

Cars have bloated, mostly because to meet all the safety requirements they have to be bigger than my old Ford 107E. At the same time they have become so powerful that they are only "safe" with layers of computer support.
Part of me does question the need for high powered cars with a sub 4 second 0-60, but it hasn't stopped me buying them.

Peter, yes I understand the importance of showcasing the technology but it was the somewhat small part that the battery played in this car that really made me comment on it.
I suppose it is a lot to do with selling the emotion of one of the last V8's as well combined with the greater profits they command.

I don't imagine the all battery cars commanding similar emotions or prices, I could well be wrong.
Like you I doubt the necessity of the stratospheric acceleration of these cars also, but if they market them and you enjoy them then why not.

The thread car will be an absolute nightmare when it hits the secondhand market with it's inherent complex electronics and multi input sensors.

Here is another V8 jobby for the ego trippers... laugh2

I just went and had a play in the LR config tool and a Defender V8 with 2-3 options came out over £100k.

(sound of jaw drop)

Go on, I can just see you arriving in the dark in the West End opening the door and seeing that 007 logo light up the puddle smile

It's crazy money but I bet they have already sold the 15 allocated here.
